Author Guidelines
- General Information
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (JWREE) must be written in English and fall within the journal’s aims and scope. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, technical notes and case studies. Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. JWREE does not charge any submission, peer review or publication fees.
- Online Submission
Manuscripts are submitted online through the journal’s submission system. Authors should register for an account (or log in if they already have one), select “Make a New Submission” and follow the instructions. To support double-blind peer review, authors should upload two separate files:
– Title page: the article title; the full names of all authors; their affiliations (department, institution, city, country); ORCID iDs (recommended); acknowledgements and funding information; and the email address and telephone number of the corresponding author.
– Anonymized manuscript: the complete manuscript without author names, affiliations, acknowledgements or any other information that could reveal the authors’ identity. Self-citations should be written in the third person (for example, “Nguyen et al. (2020) showed…” rather than “In our previous work…”), and author information should also be removed from the file properties.
Manuscripts must be prepared using the JWREE manuscript template, which can be downloaded here: [đường dẫn tải file mẫu trình bày bài báo].

Review articles, technical notes and case studies may use a structure appropriate to their content. Section headings are numbered consecutively (1., 1.1., 1.1.1.) and written in bold.

- Citations and References
JWREE uses the author–year citation style, based on the APA style (7th edition).
In-text citations: one author: (Nguyen, 2020); two authors: (Nguyen and Tran, 2020); three or more authors: (Nguyen et al., 2020). Multiple citations are separated by semicolons and listed in chronological order: (Tran, 2015; Nguyen et al., 2020).
Reference list: only works cited in the text are included, listed alphabetically by the surname of the first author. DOIs should be provided where available. For references not published in English, the original title is given without diacritics, followed by an English translation in square brackets and the original language in parentheses.

- Peer Review and Publication Process
Each submission is first screened by the editors for relevance to the journal’s scope, originality and compliance with these guidelines. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions: accept, revisions required, resubmit for review, or decline.
When revising, authors should submit the revised manuscript together with a response letter that addresses each reviewer comment point by point, with all changes highlighted in the manuscript. Accepted manuscripts are copyedited and typeset, and the corresponding author is asked to check the proofs within the time specified by the editorial office. Articles are published online and in print in quarterly issues.
- Copyright, Licensing and Publication Ethics
By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to the journal’s Copyright Notice. Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. Authors must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics policy, including the requirements on originality, authorship, conflicts of interest and the use of artificial intelligence tools.
